Our social commitments
CSR at CMN
For several years now, the Centre des Monuments Nationaux has been committed to a CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) approach, which aims to integrate social and environmental responsabilitty issues into its practices. In this way, the Centre seeks to strengthen its social impact and reduce its environmental footprint.
A company committed to social and societal issues
The Centre des monuments nationaux has been involved in responding to social and societal challenges for several years. In 2018, it received the "Diversity" label awarded by the French Association for Standardisation (AFNOR), which certifies the success of its commitment to effectively preventing discrimination, particularly in recruitment. As proof of its proactive approach, the institution has been recognised for its ongoing efforts in this area by obtaining the renewal of this distinction in 2022. In the same vein, the institution is also proud to have received the "Equality" certification in 2022, underlining the exemplary nature of the institution's practices in promoting and respecting equality between men and women. These labels are part of an overall approach to welcoming visitors to the monuments, partnerships with local associations and stakeholders, and staff well-being.
The institution also stands out for the development of its inclusive policy, which has resulted in seven monuments in the network being awarded the "Tourism & Disability" label. The CMN is developing specific initiatives for people with disabilities, such as using technology to provide virtual tours of certain inaccessible monuments, such as the towers and ramparts. As part of this commitment, the CMN is pursuing a policy of innovation in the field of cultural mediation and outreach, with content available in several languages, immersive projects and games for young visitors, in order to make the exceptionally varied heritage for which it is responsible accessible to all.
This mission is also supported by the CMN Institut, which shares its expertise and know-how in cultural engineering and heritage enhancement. Created in 2021, its mission is to support local authorities, organisations, managers and owners in the management and enhancement of their heritage assets. As a sign of the excellence of the training provided, CMN Institut has been awarded QUALIOPI certification by AFNOR under the authority of the Ministry of Employment.
In another social initiative, the institution is strengthening its integration policy by adding professional integration clauses to its contracts. This allows a certain number of hours to be set aside for peoples who are far from the labour market, giving them the benefit of work experience in the heart of an exceptional historical heritage.
As a public institution, the Centre des Monuments Nationaux also wants to promote its values, which is why it has made numerous commitments to causes close to its heart, such as its policy of professional integration in its contracts. In 2022, the institution rolled out a large-scale blood donation campaign in its monuments in partnership with the Établissement Français du Sang (EFS), making it possible to combine an act of civic engagement and solidarity with the discovery of heritage sites.
The CMN, a player in professional equality
The Centre des Monuments Nationaux has held the "Professional Equality" label since September 2022. With a predominantly female workforce, equal opportunities for women and men are a major issue for the institution, which has been implementing tools to monitor inequalities between women and men for several years now.
Since 2023 and law no. 2023-623 of 19 July 2023, employers in the civil service have been publishing data relating to professional equality, in order to increase transparency on indicators relating to pay gaps between women and men and to encourage action in favour of equality.
For the year 2023, the Centre des Monuments Nationaux obtained an overall score of 90/100 in the professional equality index of the Civil Service:
| CMN's final score | Maximum score | |
| Equal pay indicator for civil servants | 28.3 | 29 |
| Equal pay indicator for non-civil servants | 42.1 | 51 |
| Indicator on the ten highest salaries | 20 | 20 |
| FINAL SCORE OUT OF 100 | 90 | 100 |
This score illustrates the good overall situation for women at CMN, even though the institution recognises that it must continue its efforts in this area. In this context, the next index will show whether the measures implemented (career development support and reserved advancement of a section of women on their pay grid) are beginning to bear fruit.
