Presentation

Combining a variety of styles (classical or English-style gardens, medieval or landscape gardens), these gardens are often part of heritage sites, including castles such as the grounds of Rosanbo Castle in Lanvellec, or abbeys such as the medicinal herb garden at Daoulas Abbey. They bear witness to the close link between nature and culture in the Breton landscape. Thanks to the mild, oceanic climate of the coast, some gardens are home to rare, often exotic, botanical collections, such as the Roscoff Exotic and Botanical Garden.Created in 2004 by the Ministry of Culture, the ‘remarkable garden’ label recognises parks and gardens open to the public whose historical, botanical and aesthetic features make them unique. Awarded for a renewable period of five years, this label ensures ongoing maintenance and high standards at these sites throughout the year for visitors. This guide lists all the certified gardens in Brittany.
