The Centre des monuments nationaux is a public administrative establishment which employs more than 1,400 full-time and seasonal agents.
The institution's mission is to maintain, conserve and restore 98 national monuments and their collections, to promote awareness of them, present them to the public and develop visiting In 2014 the monuments entrusted to the Centre des monuments nationaux received 9.4 million visitors.
Since 2007 the institution has been the project owner of the works carried out on the buildings under its management.
In 2014 the Centre des monuments nationaux defined a new organisation enabling it to integrate all the necessary skills to carry out its tasks and, in particular, its role with regard to technical and scientific expertise and monitoring as project owner.
Within this framework, the CMN recruits civil servants, contractors, trainees, apprentices and community service volunteers ("service civique").
